Both the 10u and 13u Delaware Viper teams will be holding a fantastic breakfast fundraiser at the Applebee’s in Peoples Plaza on Saturday, February 18^th from 8:00 – 10:00 AM. Tickets are a great value at only $8 each, and they can be purchased directly from Coach Wegz. The menu includes Applebee's signature pancakes with sausage, juice, milk and coffee.

Four Tournaments... Four BIG Wins...

The Delaware Vipers 14u entered four different tournaments this fall season. In case you haven't noticed - they have won all four of them. The most recent victory came at Sports at The Beach where they won the Harvest Moon Shootout. The Mighty Vipers went undefeated through the nine team field, amassing a perfect 5-0 record, while racking up an impressive 53 runs scored with only 15 runs against. They scored the most, gave up the least, and just flat out dominated from start to finish.

Way to go boys! You make all of us here in the Mighty Viper Nation very proud. Keep on Keepin' on! Go VIPERS!

The Delaware Vipers sent four teams to the Tater Time Blast this past weekend at Sports at The Beach and managed to bring home THREE Championship trophies. Sunday marked the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy in New York and Washington DC, and it weighed heavily in people's minds. The classy staff at Sports at The Beach started the day with one of the umpires singing God Bless America, followed by the Star Spangled Banner. He did a very fine job, on a truly special day.

11u Champions

The Delaware Vipers 11u, managed by Larry Pike, went 4-0 against tough competition winning two hard fought games on Saturday, and two more on Sunday. The bats weren't exactly on fire, as is the norm, but they were doing enough to bring home the wins we needed. Matt 'The Hammer' Hammond dropped a one-run bomb over the left-center fence to help his team win and Luke Sidwelll's crushing Grand Slam was another fine addition to the score book. Tournament MVP was Pat 'Soup' Campbell for his shutdown pitching and strong play in the field. Not bad for his first tournament as a VIPER!

The Delaware Vipers 12u is a brand new team, and they played their first tournament this past weekend. While they did not manage to put any wins on the board, they did play well against very strong competition, losing their opening game to the eventual tournament champion Elite Baseball just 7-4. Outstanding pitching performances were turned in by Kordell Screven, Dillon Lenard, and Josh Wright. Austin Hoferer turned in fine performances behind the plate in two of the games played, and hit the ball hard all weekend culminating with a Homer against the South Jersey Young Guns on Sunday. The entire team would like to send a very special THANK YOU to Coach Brian Honeycutt for supporting us throughout both days.

The Delaware Vipers 13u won another Championship this weekend as well. Though far from their first, this is is truly a special win for the team as they went 0-2 on Saturday, and managed to put it all back together again and win out on Sunday for the title with a final record of 3-2. Great job guys! VIPERS never quit!

14u Champions

Tony Marenco's Delaware Vipers 14u put together another tournament victory on Sunday. These guys just can't get enough - that is for sure! This awesome bunch of kids went 1-1 on Saturday, and 5-1 overall, in a tough 15 team field. Battling back from the eighth seed by winning four straight games on Sunday, they took the Championship in extra innings against a very strong Diamond Jaxx team early Sunday evening. Congratulations to Julian Kurych for being named the 14u Tournament MVP. This was truly an outstanding team effort!

13u Wins 1st Annual Delaware State Championships and Baseball Showcase!

The Delaware Vipers 13u team traveled to Dover this past weekend to participate in the 1st Annual Delaware State Championships and Baseball Showcase. This tournament was organized and sponsored by the Delaware Warriors Youth Baseball Club to include elite travel teams from Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey in the 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u, 14u, and 18u age brackets.

Viper weekend highlights included homers by Julian Kurych (2), Aaron Coates, and Logan Gilbert. On the defensive side, Troy Marenco put on a pitching clinic with his 2-hit complete game shutout on Saturday to give the team a ton of confidence going into Sunday. As the top seed coming in, the Mighty Vipers cruised to the Championship to bring home the hardware.

Although the weather was touch and go all weekend, the boys played great and everyone had a blast. This was yet again true Viper Baseball at its best. Well done boys! Go VIPERS!

Delaware Vipers 13u DCIBL Champions!

The Delaware Vipers 13u were crowned 2011 Champions of the Delaware Competitive Instructional Baseball League (DCIBL) on Wednesday evening following their 9-6 victory over the Delaware Sabres Gold team. The championship was the culmination of a three game series between the two teams in which the Mighty Vipers battled back after a first game loss, winning two straight to take the title.

With a full season extending from early May though the beginning of August, the DCIBL is the premier travel baseball league in the greater Delaware area. This being the inaugural season for the league, this championship was truly a very special occasion for all involved. Rob Niggebrugge, President of the Delaware Warriors BBA, summed it up succinctly when he said "No one will ever forget the first one, so congrats to all of you at the Delaware Vipers. Your winning ways continue..."

All of us within the Delaware Viper Family want to send out a very special congratulations to the players on the team, and a huge 'thank you' to manager and coach Tony Marenco. Go VIPERS!

The Delaware Vipers 13u Team lost a hard fought game to the 14u Australian National Team today at Sports at the Beach. The game turned into a barn-burner with no score at the end of two, and the Vipers pulling away with a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

The hard fighting Australians put one run on the board in the fourth, and another in the sixth to tie it up. The final straw was a back-breaking home run in the bottom of the seventh to give the National Team the victory.

Our hats are off to the opposing team - they played very well. This game was a great opportunity for our boys, as well as our organization, and an experience that will be fondly remembered by all involved.

The Bear Babe Ruth 11u All Star Team closed out the 50/70 Delaware State Tournament with a impressive Championship win over Piedmont this evening. The game ended early on their power hitting (four HR's) combined with shut-out pitching. Final score was 11 - 0. They are moving on to Babe Ruth Regionals in Pennsylvania.

The Delaware Vipers 11u manager Jack Honeycutt today announced that his brother, Brian Honeycutt, will be the pitching coach for the newly forming team. Brian was drafted as a pitcher by the Minnesota Twins organization out of William Penn High School, and is still well known and very highly regarded locally as a player coach and mentor.

The 11u team roster continues to fill up with very talented players as well. Today it was also announced that Josh Wright (#15) and Josh Nicholson (#7) will be joining the team for the 2011/2012 season. Both of these players are new to the Delaware Vipers organization, and the management and coaches are very pleased to have them on board. Welcome to the Vipers, boys!

9u Wins at The Beach... AGAIN!

The Delaware Vipers 9u team went a perfect 6 - 0 to win the Bronx Cheer Gala tournament held at Sports at The Beach this past weekend. This was a three day tournament with six teams participating. The team put up a tournament high 66 runs in their quest for the hardware while only allowing 14 runs against. The official game results are here. These little guys get the job done. Go Vipers!

10u Wins Upper Chesapeake Baseball Festival

The Delaware Vipers 10u went undefeated this past weekend to win the Upper Chesapeake Baseball Festival held in Harford County, Maryland. Final game results are here. With a very tough opening day schedule, the team battled to become the third seed going into Sunday's single elimination play. After two tough games, the Vipers entered the championship game to face the Emmorton Eagles in what turned out to be a rematch of the Spring Classic Championship held on the very same field earlier this year.

At the end of the first inning the teams were tied at one run each. At the end of two, they were again matched up at two apiece. The Vipers shut the Eagles down in the third, holding them to no runs scored. When it came time for those Mighty Vipers to hit in the bottom of the third the bats caught fire and they unleashed 15 runs ending the game early with only one out recorded in the bottom of the third inning. The final score was 17 - 2 in favor of the Mighty Vipers.

To say that these boys put on a hitting display to close out this tournament does not do justice to what they accomplished. They pounded the ball, one after the other, with every player in the line-up doing their job, like this coach has never seen before. It was truly amazing and something that will be long remembered by all those that were there.

Joey 'The Beast' Bailey was named the tournament MVP for his home run on Saturday, his shut-down pitching on both days, and his rock solid play in the field. Well done Joey!

Alex Palomo could not be with his team on Sunday due to other commitments. Alex, you were missed by everyone on Sunday, but your boys got the job done. Enough said. Go Vipers!

Day Three in Cooperstown...

In the first game of day three at Cooperstown our Mighty Vipers lost a close game 3 to 0 to a good Carolina Surge (NC) team. We just could not get our bats going in that game.
In game two our Vipers took on the Lake Forest Scouts Blue (IL) and things started to come around. The Vipers won the game 15 to 8 on solid play.
After three complete days of play, our Vipers are the #35 seed in the 104 team field. Lets Go Vipers!

16u Runner-up at the Road Trip Frenzy...

The Delaware Vipers 16u placed second in the Road Trip Frenzy tournament this past weekend at Sports at The Beach. Undefeated going into the championship game, this is quite an accomplishment considering it is only their second tournament as a team. To top it off, they scored 25 runs in five games for more runs scored than any other team in the 11 team field. Yes, we can hit. Lets go Vipers!

Day Two in Cooperstown...

The 12u Vipers played their first game this morning at 8:30 AM against the Fayette Chiefs (GA). The Mighty Vipers won the game 21 to 1 with Homeruns offered up from Lawson (he hit 2 bombs), Someloske, Guild, Kleraka, and Steckline. Yes, we can hit.
In the second game of the day the Vipers squared off against the Rocket City Road Runners (AL) and had their hands full. Fighting fire with fire, the Road Runners hit three bombs of their own in this game bringing in six runs. Not to be outdone, the Viper's Steckline had a two run shot to keep his team in the hunt. The Road Runners pulled it out 12 to 8 in the end to hand the Mighty Vipers their first loss of the tournament. Well done Road Runners!
The Vipers begin play tomorrow at 1:45 PM against the 3 and 1 Carolina Surge (NC) on field 4. Lets Go Vipers!

12u Start 2 and 0 in Cooperstown...

The Delaware Vipers 12u squad opened Week #2 play at Cooperstown Dreams Park with two strong wins today. They beat the Weston Rattlers (FL) 12 to 8 in the opening game with Homers from Steckline and Sinko. In the second game of the day they kept on rolling handily beating the Sans Souci Sluggers (FL) 16 to 1. Play starts tomorrow at 8:30 AM against the Fayette Chiefs (GA). The Chiefs are 0 and 2 in opening day play. Lets Go Vipers!

The Delaware Vipers 12u team left for Cooperstown Dreams Park on Friday for Week #2 tournament play. This is a HUGE tournament featuring 104 teams from all over the country. The Mighty Vipers play their first game Sunday morning at 8:30 AM versus the Weston Rattlers out of the great State of Florida. NEWS FLASH - Flash Training for Delaware Vipers starts this Monday!

Flash Training, the Official Training Partner of the Delaware Vipers, starts Summer Viper Training on Monday, June 13th. Training will take place in the Wrestling Building at Red Lion Christian Academy, and it is open to all current Delaware Vipers at the ridiculously low price of $65 for the entire summer session. The program will run four days per week, Monday thru Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM until the end of July.

Delaware Vipers 9u Win Under Armour Clean-Up Tournament

The 9u Delaware Vipers traveled to Ripken in Aberdeen this weekend and brought home the hardware yet again. If you have not seen these little guys play, you are missing something special. Elite teams like the Tri State Arsenal and Beaver Valley Red were in attendance among others, but the Vipers left it all on the field going 4 and 1 overall for the weekend. In the finals they defeated a fine Ohio Glacier team 11 to 0 with the game ending early due to the run limit. The Viper's Drew Fry was named the Championship MVP. Delaware Vipers 10u Walk The Plank in Olney, Maryland

The 10u Delaware Vipers traveled to Olney, Maryland this Memorial Day to battle it out with some of the best teams around in the Walk The Plank Tournament. The 10u field featured 18 travel teams from all around the area. The Vipers went with nine players to this event, which meant no extra players for substitutions so everyone had to give it their all.

On Saturday the Vipers had trouble getting our bats going in both games, and as a result went 1 and 1, dropping their second game to a tough York Young Revolution team. This team played solid ball and hit well, defeating the Vipers 10 - 5.

On Sunday the Vipers went 2 and 0 on the day to improve their overall tournament record to 3 wins and 1 loss. Jordan 'Big Air' Adair lit up the afternoon with a MONSTER 240 ft Grand Slam over the left center field wall that shot the Vipers out to an early 4 to 0 lead. Joey 'The Beast' Bailey followed suit shortly thereafter with another huge solo shot of his own to the very same spot. It was really a special day.

Monday morning it was clear, warm and sunny - a perfect Memorial Day! In the top of the first, the Olney Buccaneers came out swinging and jumped out to a 2 to 0 lead. In the bottom of the first though the Vipers came out swinging and never looked back. Matt Matt 'The Hammer' Hammond dropped a two-run bomb over the 235ft sign on the left center field wall to tie it up and the Vipers just kept pounding the ball until the game ended early due to the run limit. It was a great day, and a wonderful weekend.
